White Definition Instant Brightening Make Up Lesson by Make Up For Ever

With the launch of the White Definition Instant Brightening Powder Foundation, I was invited to enjoy a 30 mins complimentary 1-to-1 make up lesson on Instant Brightening with MAKE UP FOR EVER.
It was my first time learning make up at their Make Up School. The lesson was held at Sephora Ngee Ann City.

Launch & Review: pureDKNY A Drop of Rose Eau De Parfum

Weeks ago, pureDKNY collection introduces the new scent for women, pureDKNY a drop of rose.
The launch of this new collection was held at Parco Caffe 10 Raeburn Park, a little cafe at a quiet cul-de-sac, its an absolute wonderful place which fits the theme.

The private room reserved for the event has natural sunlight shining through its glass rooftop. Everything in this room looks bright and pretty. It has air-con plus ceiling fan, its very cooling sitting in there, at some point cold too.(Because of the fan. lolx~) It's a very good place for families, friends or even office colleagues to have their gatherings in this room.

Mother and Child Project ™
Mother and Child Project™ is a social enterprise run by Singapore Anglican Community Services (SACS) and seed funded by ComCare Enterprise Fund. This enterprise was birthed to empower the disadvantaged women in Singapore so they can be equipped with a skill to work from home, have the time and capacity to take care of their children and ultimately, be self-sufficient. Mother and Child Project ™ products are all handcrafted and made in Singapore.

Next, we were taught how to make a heart shape cushion keychain. Though I'm used to sewing fabrics and stuffs with my own hands (thanks to my hobby-cosplay), I'm still not used to sewing a blind stitch. A crooked closure at the side of the heart can be seen cos my blind stitch is really... not so blind. hahhax~ (^▽^") Then we sprayed the fragrance onto the heart to make it a scented keychain. Its a very cute keychain which I now often sprayed it with pureDKNY A drop of rose and keep it in my bag so everytime I opens up my bag, I can smell roses~

Ingredients

 
A clean, sleek & simple water drop shaped glass bottle with the word pureDKNY printed on one side.

 
The wording's in pale pink & its cap is coated in matte metallic pink to signify that this is the pureDKNY A Drop of Rose EDP and to differentiate itself from the Vanilla and Verbena fragrances.

 
Upon the first few spray, I can clearly smell the perfect rose scent. It brought my mind to the Rose Garden which I once visited in Japan, less the pungency & soil scent. (lolx~)
If you ever holds a bunch of roses in your hands, try smelling them deeply. You can get almost the similar scent from this bottle of perfume too except that I feel the real roses smelled a tiny bit more sharp, crisp and 'rotten'. But of course, roses have already started rotting by the time you hold them in your hands. (Unless you grow your own roses)
With the pureDKNY A Drop of Rose perfume, I can always smell fresh roses at anytime. The perfume when used on my body smells slightly sweet, romantic, warm yet calming, it really makes me feel like I just toured the Rose Garden under the morning sun and that scent, lingered on my body. When I used the perfume, it stayed on me the whole day. It even stayed on my clothes till the next day. Not that I didn't bath, the rose scent actually came from the clothes (sprayed with perfume) in the laundry basket. Lolx~ (^o^")
The perfume on my wrists fades away when I wash my hands, however the rest still lingers on other parts of my body, just less heavy at the end of the day.
I usually like having more than 5 pumps on my body (quiet alot yah? ^,^"). 2-4 times on my wrists/arms and 2 times on my legs/pants and lastly 1 spray on my hair. I never tried spraying body spray on my hair except for hair fragrances last time.
I started doing it because an image from "We got married" (A korean variety show) showing a celebrity couple spraying perfume on their head was stuck in my brain, just becos Na mentioned it to me and we all thought it was funny when the couple started doing silly things like *cupping hand over the head and quickly cupping over nose* trying to catch the scent. And yah, that is why now I spray on my head too. lolx~
I always liked rose scents and love it more if it smells pure and subtle. pureDKNY A Drop of Rose doesn't mix with other scents, it smells like pure sweet rose to me.

Event: SOAP NOT SOUP - Shark Savers at LUSH Flagship Store

On 16 Jan, there was a SOAP NOT SOUP press event held at LUSH Singapore Flagship store. During the event, they presented the Shark Fin Soap by LUSH which was launched in Hong Kong last year.
LUSH, is joining Shark Savers with a whirlwind tour through Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong to raise awareness about shark conservation with the sale of their “shark fin soap,” a sea-vegetable soap with a fin.   Singapore kicked off in January, and beginning in February LUSH’s retail locations and the Shark Savers Taiwan team will conduct the largest awareness and education campaign on shark fin soup yet in Taiwan. Then it’s off to Hong Kong in March with joint promotions running through May.

I never get tired looking at the colourful soaps laid upon the shelves. My eyes stopped at various beautifully decorated soaps and it made me imagine myself in a bathtub using them... *day dreams* Opps! lolx~

 
 
Cosmetics Giant LUSH Joins Shark Savers ‘I’m FINished with FINS’campaign
SINGAPORE, January 19, 2013 – COSMETICS giant LUSH has teamed up with Shark Savers Singapore to raise awareness about the urgent need to curb the consumption and trade of sharks’ fins. The collaboration was launched on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at LUSH Cosmetic’s boutique at Wisma Atria and continues for two weeks.
 
Attending the event were Singaporean celebrities featured in Shark Savers’ “I’m FINished with FINs” campaign which empowers Singaporeans to not to eat shark’s fin soup: Mr. Hossan Leong, the campaign’s celebrity ambassador, Mr. Aaron Wong, campaign photographer, Ms Yasminne Cheng, Class95FM Radio deejay, and Nominated Member of Parliament Mr. Nicholas Fang. These personalities and almost fifty others can be seen in evocative black-and-white “I’m FINished” billboards throughout Singapore.
 
LUSH and Shark Savers have joined for a two week event called “Soap not Soup”, featuring the sale of ‘shark fin soap’. LUSH produced this special edition soap out of seaweed and sea salt, topped off with a small cardboard shark fin. All sales proceeds will go to Shark Savers.

Mr. Nafees Khundker, Director of LUSH, Singapore, explained, “100% of the LUSH products are not tested on animals and are designed to have a low impact on the environment.” he said. “We are very proud to partner with Shark Savers in what is a critical initiative to save sharks, which face the threat of extinction due to the consumption of shark fin soup.” Jonn Lu, Regional Director of Shark Savers, Asia Pacific, noted that “the over-fishing of sharks, mostly for their fins, happens out in the ocean, where most people don’t see it or know about its impact. People care about what they know, and they protect what they care about. We need to make sure people are aware about this issue, which is having a severe impact not just on sharks but the rest of the ocean ecosystem, and us humans who depend on the oceans for our existence.”
 
 
Statistics were mentioned by John Lu during the press event:
Each year, the fins of tens of millions of sharks are slaughtered, with their fins entering the shark fin trade.
1/3 of all shark species are threatened with extinction.
80% of open ocean shark species frequently targeted in high seas fisheries are threatened or near threatened with extinction.
All 14 species of shark most prevalent in the shark fin trade are Threatened or Near Threatened with extinction.

The celebrity participants gave their own reasons for supporting Shark Savers’ campaign. NMP Fang said, “If you look at the damage we are doing to the environment through this activity [eating shark fin soup], it is huge.” Fang urged people “to stand by your personal convictions” and not be afraid to speak out against shark fin soup. Yasminne Cheng added, “If there are traditions that are negative, that affect our welfare, then we should rethink these traditions.” Hossan Leong joked that he is “doing this for 'selfish reasons', because if you don’t save the sharks, you won’t have healthy oceans, and I like seafood.” He referred to research that showed removing sharks from the ecosystem can result in the loss of species further down the food chain. He added, "the next generation should have the opportunity to see these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat."

LUSH, a vegetarian company with vegetarian beliefs and sensibilities, which has over 820 shops across 50 countries around the globe, has taken Shark Savers’ pledge to not to serve any sharks fin dishes at corporate events, promote any shark fin products, or reimburse employees for expenses for sharks fin products. Shark Fin Soap
Alright ladies!!.... and men! Time to zoom into the shark fin!.. Soap i mean. Here I present some close-up images of the soap. An ocean blue soap shaped in a little ~ wave symbol which also represents the ocean. Remember the days when you as a kid, drew many ~ symbols on paper, pointed it and says "SEA". (lolx~) 
The shark fin is made in black cardboard paper. It protrudes out from the middle of the soap which mimics the real shark fins seen gliding across the ocean surface. This is perhaps an image of what they wanted us to imagine, watching the sharks able to swim in the ocean WITH their fins and not without them.
 
This soap has a pretty strong 'ocean-y' smell (a smell that reminds me of ocean that is), but with more lime in it. From the LUSH website, its said that it has actually scents of lime, lavender and seaweed. The sea weeds found at the bottom of the soap kinda projects the plants living on the ocean floor. As like many other LUSH soap, this soap is easy to lather with water. After bathing using the soap, my skin feels clean and has this slight waxy after-feel and the scent lingers on my body.
 
Since I don't see any of my faces in the events photo, I shall bombard you with my LOTD! But I don't want my face to become the main subject for this post so I thumbnail them. lalala~ acting cute etc etc etc~

Event: Benefit Pretty in PINK Party at Tangs Orchard

During last year December holidays, I attended the benefit Pretty in Pink party at Tangs Orchard, celebrating the opening of their flagship store.
Benefit store is just near the main entrance of Tangs Orchard. When I entered and looked up, I saw beautiful round medallions with exquisite carvings hanging down from the ceiling. It's quite a pretty sight.

 
All attendees were greeted by their friendly staff and BAs. And Spy girls were seen roaming around the store.

Event: Beautiful Japan Denim at JRunway

On 18 Jan, I was invited to attend the Beautiful Japan Denim event, a Japan Denim Project in collaboration with LASALLE College of the Arts, showcasing the exquisite products from Kurashiki region in Japan of 10 well-established denim brands for the first time in Singapore. It was held at the JRunway flagship store. I'm always happy to attend JRunway events as I like to patron their store and had been doing so for the past few months since their opening. ^_^

About Beautiful Japan Denim
Having successfully launched its flagship store in November 2012, JRunway has been working as a showcase agent to established brands from Japan and pursue more cultural exchanges between Japanese fashion and Singapore’s fashion.
As one of such projects, JRunway’s management company AWCG Pte. Ltd. has collaborated with Kurashiki Fashion Centre (and their 10 denim companies) to showcase and to operate test marketing at JRunway. This project aims to do branding, test sales and seek business matching opportunity within the domestic market with their quality denim products from Japan. To kick-off the project, a fashion runway show has been collaborated with Singapore’s well-known fashion school, LASALLE College of the Arts from its concept-making to the entire operation. All brands involved will also be exhibiting their merchandising samples for viewing.
 
 
ABOUT KURASHIKI DENIM INDUSTRY
“Kurashiki” is a name of local city in Okayama prefecture, well-known for manufacturing denim products. “Kurashiki Fashion Centre” is a company formed by several denim manufacturers and the local government of Kurashiki-city to pursue industrial development.
It is one of the world’s finest jeans production areas with its long history as the capital of textile since Edo-period (1603-1869). The craftsmanship which has been established over centuries is always combining with new, young, evolving ideas. Thus they maintain creating high quality jeans with sensitivity to the smallest details that is always attracting denim lovers all over the world.

Fashion Runway Show

At JRunway awaiting for the fashion show to start~

 
 
 
During the fashion show, besides getting my eyes glued to the hunks (uhhh-hum.) I also took a closer look at the details on all the designs, mostly the jeans and jackets. The buttons, pockets, up to the zips & seams were very nicely designed and sewn. I totally dig those jeans that the guys wore, they look so cool in them.
 
Here's the models dressed in denim apparels made by the 10 brands. I think my picture collage can serve as a 'How to dress in denims' reference book. Lolx~

Beautiful Japan Denim Pop-up Showroom
After the event, we were also invited to view their pop-up showroom that was set up just a short distance away from the Plaza Singapura extension wing entrance
 
I totally love the pop-up showroom idea. It is fully air-conditioned (for spoilt singaporeans who hate hot weather, like me! Lolx~) and the afternoon sunlight shone through the glass windows making the interior look bright, yet cozy. Every product showcased inside this showroom appeared sharp and clear to my eyes and my camera lens.
 
Denim is a woven fabric that uses yarn like these.
 
They covered half of the floor with their denim fabric that look almost like my denim canvas shoes! haha~

What I took from the pop-up showroom, lots of catalogues!
 
Among all, SEAMS catalogue stands out the most. They used their denim fabric to make a 'pocket', embroidered on one side and printed their logo on the other.
